Young people of the Cernay parish in France, touched by the distress of the inhabitants of Haiti after the violent earthquake, decided to get together and had the idea of organizing a Cabaret night managed by ATD Quart Monde Haiti with profits going towards those who had been severly impacted by the earthquake.

Some of them were actually artists in their own right, others focued on communication (posters, press conference, distributing handouts), all of them took care of practical logistics for the evening (setting up the room, buffet service, control of all the material in the back room). They decided to also call upon their talented friends and friends of their friends too; local associations also responded positively to this request. At the beginning the question was “will we have enough volunteers?” But at the end, in just a few weeks nearly 100 young adults showed up, and the evening had to be prolonged!

This was an execptional evening as EVERYTHING went fine:

  • Great acts by the teens and young adults, either individually or in associations (music, songs, dances, gym, etc.)
  • A great snack bar that brought in a lot of money
  • Fantastic true stories by Michele Geradrin and by Doctor Veronique Absolu And the audience appreciated everything!

What was also incredible was that this act of solidarity for Haiti also created solidarity among the participants, and there was “pair work” in singing, unusual music, pair work between music and jugglers, musicians, and many other offers that we unfortunately had to refuse because of time constraints.

All in all a total of 4,600 euros was raised for Haiti

Wherever men and women are condemned to live in extreme poverty, human rights are violated.
To come together to ensure that these rights be respected is our solemn duty.
