The International Movement ATD Fourth World, a non-governmental organization with no religious or political affiliation, was registered in 1974 in France. It brings together the different structures and associations of ATD Fourth World in many countries.

The International Movement ATD Fourth World obtained general consultative status with the UN ECOSOC in 1991 and also has consultative status with UNICEF, UNESCO, ILO and the participatory status for the Council of Europe. It has a permanent delegation to the European Union
