ATD Fourth World in Asia has teams in the Philippines and Thailand, and coordinates the Asian network of the Forum for Overcoming Poverty. Forum members and friends live in the sinophone world (continental China and Taiwan) and 12 other countries of the Asia-Pacific region (Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Myanmar, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Viet Nam, New Zealand).
In addition to supporting the work of national teams, the ATD Fourth World regional team for Asia gives families living in extreme poverty a voice, through representation at UNESCO and in lectures and publishing projects at Asian universities. We also support the development of a community of socially responsible children in Asia by publishing Tapori minibooks in local languages.
Many of ATD Fourth World’s friends in Asia are part of the Forum for Overcoming Extreme Poverty. These links extend to the Arab world in Western Asia, particularly in Lebanon.
In addition to supporting the work of national teams, the ATD Fourth World regional team for Asia gives families living in extreme poverty a voice, through working on Education for All, representation at Bangkok’s regional UNESCO office, and in lectures and publishing projects at Asian universities. We also support the development of a community of socially responsible children in Asia by publishing Tapori minibooks in local languages thanks to the voluntary commitment of many university students.
