Breaking the Silence Together | A video for October 17

It is one month to October 17, the World Day to Overcome Extreme Poverty, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary with events in more than 50 countries and an exceptional mobilisation ‘For a world that leaves no one behind’. In New York, where a delegation of people living in poverty will speak at he UN about their daily struggles; in Dakar, where young people will talk about the resistance of the poorest in an environment affected by climate change; in Paris, where a ‘village of initiatives’ will propose actions for a better society: everywhere men, women, young people and children will express their resistance against the violence of poverty and will launch a call to action.

Events will take place the week before October 17 to celebrate this anniversary. To learn more about these events, visit the Overcoming Extreme Poverty website or the events world map.

Everyone is invited to join a local event, to support its preparation, to encourage others to participate, and to follow events online on at www.poverty-stop.org.

The video ‘Breaking the Silence Together’ describes this day and presents October 17 to the world. It is an instructive aid to support the preparation of the World Day to Overcome Extreme Poverty locally.
