ATD Fourth World has been in Canada since 1982. There are local groups in several Canadian regions with a home base in Montreal at the ATD Fourth World house, where programs are coordinated.
Programs
- Local outreach in disadvantaged areas, meeting people in precarious living situations, and creating links with them and others. Culture and academic support through Street Libraries and Festivals of Learning are used to create relationships and meet people.
- Citizen participation via People’s University which allow exchanges between people from different social groups, and the recognition of the knowledge and insight of those who live in poverty
- Advocacy so the contributions of the voiceless are heard. Also working to influence public opinion and government to make overcoming poverty a priority.
