ATD Fourth World and the European Year of Youth 2022
200 young people united
From 7 – 11 July 2022, around 200 young people from 12 European countries will meet up at ATD Fourth World’s International Centre in Méry-sur-Oise, France.
Through workshops and group discussions, participants will help build the Europe of their dreams–a Europe where no one is left behind. ATD Fourth World is part of Europe’s Year of Youth 2022, and this summer gathering will be a momentum-builder to energize this year and a half long campaign.
ATD Fourth World’s Youth Campaign 2022-23
The July gathering is part of a bigger project: ATD Fourth World’s Youth Campaign 2022-23.
Last fall, young people aged 13 to 30 from different ATD groups began twinning (developing connections between two groups) and meeting in their own countries in order to get to know each other and organise the July event at ATD’s International Centre.
In November 2021, group delegates met in Méry-sur-Oise, France. Another group met early in March 2022 in Wijhe, Netherlands. Together they chose themes and topics they wanted to talk about at the July gathering: education, school and vocational training, employment and work life, youth well-being and youth participation.
Meeting European Parliament decision makers
ATD’s Youth Campaign 2022-23 thinks all young people should be able to talk in person with European decision makers. In May 2023, around 30 delegates will travel to Strasbourg, France to meet with the Council of Europe and the European Parliament. The goal is for young people to take their concerns directly to their European level representatives.
